We have taken the learnings from a successful two-year pilot and launched a refreshed program that matches newly graduated nurses and midwives with a mentor who has 5+ years of experience as a nurse or midwife.

Supportive and collaborative relationships improve the nursing and midwifery field for everybody. This program has been designed to:

Strengthen workforce sustainability by investing in the retention and development of early-career nurses and midwives.

Provide tailored support and strategies for new graduates as they navigate diverse clinical and non-clinical roles.

Encourage life-long learning through nurturing reflective practice and ongoing professional growth.

Build resilience and autonomy to empower graduates to confidently embed their scope of practice within professional standards.

While we provide supporting resources and guidance, the program has designed to be flexible meaning that every mentorship will look a little different based on the needs and preferences of the participants. Mentors & mentees can decide together:

• How often to meet (weekly, fortnightly or monthly)
• How they want to meet (online, in person or hybrid)
• What meetings entail (goal setting, career planning, case reviews)

In addition to connecting you and your mentor or mentee, we will provide:

• An orientation session to help prepare you for a successful mentorship
• Regular online program check-ins featuring industry speakers
• Access to a secure portal with resources, toolkits, templates and guides

• NMBA Standards for Practice and Codes of Conduct
• NSQHSS (National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards) and/or ACQS (Aged Care Quality Standards)
